Jennifer Hyman is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Rent the Runway, a business that has transformed the retail industry by making designer dress and accessory rentals a convenient and accessible luxury experience for millions of women. Since Rent the Runway’s launch in November 2009, Jennifer has managed all areas of the business including technology, fashion, sales, marketing, operations, customer service and team management, while also serving as a company spokesperson. Best known within the entrepreneurial and fashion communities for her unmatched marketing abilities, Jennifer was named as the Chief Marketing Officer of Fortune magazine’s “Executive Dream Team.”

With over 6 million members, 1,100 employees and over 450 designer brands, Rent the Runway is pioneering an apparel business in the new sharing economy with the overall mission to democratize luxury for women everywhere.

Jennifer and Jenny founded the Rent the Runway Foundation and launched Project Entrepreneur, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and advocating for women. In partnership with UBS Project Entrepreneur hosts a venture competition where three female-founded startups receive funding and a spot in a five-week accelerator program hosted at Rent the Runway.

Prior to Rent the Runway, Jennifer was the Director of Business Development at IMG where she focused on the creation of new media businesses for IMG’s Fashion Division. She also ran an online advertising sales team at WeddingChannel.com and was an in-house entrepreneur at Starwood Hotels, creating Starwood’s first wedding business, which was recognized on The Oprah Winfrey Show for its innovation.

Jennifer received her BA from Harvard University and MBA from Harvard Business School. She is currently serving as a Bloomberg Fellow, a TechStars mentor, and a member of both the Entrepreneurship Board at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Women in Business Board at Harvard University. I am a native of Silicon Valley and have spent my life immersed in the technology ecosystem. I’m currently the Operating Partner at DFJ and I co-lead the Entrepreneurial Leaders Fellowship at Stanford University in the MS&E department.

Prior to this, I was for eight years a Managing Director of Mobius Venture Capital, during which time I served on the boards of numerous private and public companies. I was also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Venture Capital Association and the Software Publishers Association. I served on the board of Great Plains Software (was NASDAQ:GPSI) from 1997 until its acquisition by Microsoft in 2001, and also served as a Public Governor of the Pacific Exchange. From 1996 to 1997, I was Vice President of World Wide Developer Relations for Apple Computer. From 1983 to 1996, I was co-founder and CEO of T/Maker Company, a developer and publisher of personal computer software. I am a past board member of the Stanford Alumni Association and also served on its Trustee Nominating Committee for five years. Ebony is responsible for engaging more than 25,000 employees in community service opportunities, as well as administering millions of dollars in grants to improve communities around the world.

Ebony and her team have achieved meaningful results with their work internationally in the areas of education and workforce development. Locally, she has led partnerships with San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) and Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).
